We’ve also got a pair of sensational Spanish gins in the spotlight – the elegant Alkkemist Gin, distilled by the light of the full moon; and the beautiful Gin Mare, a gin that epitomises the Mediterranean spirit.

Alkkemist Gin
Ever had a gin that is only made 12 times a year, and always under the light of the full moon? No? Then you need to try Alkkemist Gin, which is distilled this way in order to obtain the best possible influence on its flavours.
Made in Spain, this gin has 21 different botanicals, including sweet and fragrant Muscat grapes, rose petals, thyme, mint and fennel.
It is a gin that deserves to be savoured neat or with ice, which produces a dangerously sweet, smooth and silky experience that will leave you longing for more.

Gin Mare
Soak in the Mediterranean spirit with Gin Mare, a beautifully balanced gin with a natural bouquet of rosemary, thyme, basil, mandarin orange and of course, juniper.
This Spanish Mediterranean-styled gin is infused with olives, rosemary, thyme, mandarin orange and basil, all local Mediterranean botanicals, which gives Gin Mare a true taste of what the cuisine culture is like at its hometown of Vilanova, a Spanish fishing town located just outside the city of Barcelona.
The July Real Deal pairs Gin Mare with quad packs of East Imperial Old World Tonic and 1724 Tonic each, both of which makes for a GnT full of lovely herbal and citrus notes.
The Balvenie
Proudly known as the most handcrafted single malt in Scotland, The Balvenie is a whisky that is adored by connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike.
The brand is famous for being one of the first pioneers of using finishing techniques for its single malts. In fact, when the Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood was first introduced in 1993, the ‘wood finishing’ technique had not even been heard of before, but it is now something commonly done by many other brands as well.
The Balvenie Real Deal features the 12 Year Old DoubleWood, 14 Year Old Caribbean Cask, and 17 Year Old DoubleWood.
Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood
This hugely popular expression spends a minimum of 12 years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels and hogshead, and is then aged for another 9 months in Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks. It is then left in a larger tun for another 3-4 months for all the whiskies to marry. A thoroughly enjoyable single malt, well-loved by connoisseurs and also perfect for those who are just beginning their journey into single malt Scotch.

Nose: Rich and complex with sweet honey and vanilla nuttiness.

Balvenie 14 Year Old Caribbean Cask
Aged for 14 years, first in traditional casks, then further finished in casks that previously held rum. Not just any rum, but a blend of West Indian rums chosen by Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart and filled in American Oak casks. Once he judged them to be read, he emptied the casks and finished the Scotch inside them. The result is a fabulous single malt that rum and whisky lovers alike will love.

Nose: A rich aroma of tropical fruit and toffee
Palate: Ever-evolving fruitiness, with sweet oak notes and rounded vanilla.

Balvenie 17 Year Old DoubleWood
The Balvenie 17 Year Old DoubleWood is the elder brother of the 12 Year Old. Having spent a longer time in both types of casks, the scotch has layers upon layers of depth, complexity and flavour, and is one dram that deserves to be slowly sipped and savoured.
